Terms of Service
Who we are, and what these terms cover
Bizarus AI (Mauritius) ("Bizarus", "we", "us") operates bizarus-ai.com and the research tools, learning material and reading resources published on it. These terms govern your use of the site and, where you have been given an account, the authenticated research environment behind it.
By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
Access is by invitation only
At present, and until further notice, there is no public registration. Accounts are created only by an administrator, and access to the authenticated environment is granted by invitation. You may not attempt to create an account by any other means, share your credentials, or allow another person to use your account.
This describes how access works today, not a permanent commitment. Public registration is expected to open in future, and may include free and paid options. When it does, this section will be updated before the change takes effect and account holders will be notified as set out below. Everything else in these terms continues to apply either way: opening registration does not alter your obligations, your rights, or how your content is treated.
Whichever route you arrived by, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for everything done through your account.
You are responsible for keeping your password and any two-factor authentication device secure, and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
Definitions
Service means bizarus-ai.com and the research environment behind it. Account means credentials issued to you by an administrator. Your Content means anything you enter, upload or generate through the Service. Output means material produced with the assistance of the AI components. We and us mean Bizarus AI (Mauritius).
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account. The Service is built for researchers and is not directed at children. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will close it.
You must also be legally able to enter into these terms, and not barred from using the Service under any law that applies to you.
Fees, modules and what changes over time
Today the Service is provided free of charge, and the public tools, curriculum and reference material can be used without an account. Donations made through third-party platforms are voluntary, are not payment for the Service, and buy no additional rights, no support commitment and no availability guarantee.
Capabilities are modular
Bizarus is built as modules rather than as one indivisible product. As the platform develops, which capabilities you can reach will depend on which modules your account includes. That is the intended shape of the Service, not a restriction added later.
What may change, and it is better you know now
Capabilities become more sophisticated as they mature, and a more capable version of something usually needs an account behind it: to hold your work, to attribute it to you, and to apply limits fairly. So, plainly:
A capability available today without an account may later require you to sign in. A capability available today at no charge may later become part of a paid module. New capabilities may be paid from the outset. We may change what a module contains, retire a module, or change its price.
We intend to keep meaningful capability usable without payment, because the educational material and the reasoning tools are the point of the project rather than a funnel. That is a statement of intent and of how we want to build, not a warranty, and this section does not oblige us to keep any particular feature free permanently.
What we commit to when something changes
We will give reasonable advance notice, on this page and by email to account holders, before a capability you currently use moves behind an account or into a paid module. We will not make such a change retroactively or silently.
Your content remains yours throughout, and this is the part that matters most: if a capability moves to a paid module, you keep the ability to retrieve and export the work you created with it, whether or not you buy that module. Access to a tool may become conditional. Access to your own research does not.
If you pay
Paid plans will be optional, and the price, the billing period and what the module includes will be stated clearly before you commit. Cancellation and refund terms will be published before any plan can be purchased; nothing can be bought here until they are.
What you have paid for stays available for the period you paid for. A price change or a change to a module's contents does not take effect during a period you have already paid, and does not apply to you until your next renewal, which you are free not to take. Prices may be stated exclusive of taxes or transaction fees where those apply.
There is nothing to pay for at present, and no payment method is collected anywhere on this site.
The Service is under active development
State this plainly rather than hide it: Bizarus is being built while it runs. Features appear, change and are withdrawn. Data structures change. Interfaces are rebuilt. Some parts are more finished than others.
You should therefore keep your own copies of anything that matters, and should not make the Service the only place a piece of work exists. We take nightly backups for our own resilience, but they are not a substitute for your records, and we do not guarantee recovery of any particular item.
Feedback
If you send us suggestions, bug reports or ideas, we may use them to improve the Service without obligation, attribution or payment. You keep any rights you already had in them; you simply are not owed anything for our acting on them. Do not send us anything confidential as feedback.
Notices and communications
We will contact account holders at the email address on the account, and that address is treated as valid until you tell us otherwise. Keep it current: security alerts, invitations and password resets go there. Service messages of this kind are part of holding an account and are not marketing, so they cannot be unsubscribed from while the account is open.
Notices to us should be sent through the contact page.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the site to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system or account, to interfere with the service's operation, or to extract content at a scale or in a manner that burdens the service or circumvents its intended use.
Automated scraping, credential stuffing, vulnerability scanning without written permission, and any attempt to bypass rate limiting or access controls are prohibited.
If you find a security flaw, we would rather hear about it than not. Report it privately through the contact page, choosing "Report a problem, or a security issue", and give us a reasonable chance to fix it before disclosing it publicly. Our full policy is published at /.well-known/security.txt. Good-faith research reported this way is welcome and we will not treat it as a breach of these terms.
Academic integrity
This one matters more here than the rest, because of what Bizarus is for.
Bizarus exists to help you think, not to think in your place. It must not be used to produce work you then present as your own unaided effort where that would breach your institution's rules; to generate a thesis, dissertation, assignment or publication for submission as original authorship; to fabricate data, sources, citations or results; or to evade plagiarism detection, AI-detection or any academic-integrity process.
You are responsible for complying with the rules of your institution, funder, publisher and discipline. Those rules vary, they change, and they take precedence over anything this site enables. If you are unsure whether a particular use is permitted, ask your supervisor or institution before relying on it, not afterwards.
We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe the service is being used in breach of this section.
Your content stays yours
Research questions, notes, evidence records, argument structures, search logs and any other material you enter remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
You grant us only the permission technically necessary to operate the service for you: to store your content, to process it in order to return results, and to transmit it to the third-party providers described in our Privacy Policy when you ask for AI assistance. We do not use your research content to train models, and we do not sell it or share it for advertising.
You are responsible for having the right to enter any material you upload, including material subject to copyright, confidentiality obligations, or ethical approval conditions.
Our content
The curriculum, written guidance, terminology entries, illustrations, tools and site design are ours or licensed to us. You may read them, use the tools for your own research, print the reference sheets and templates, and quote reasonable extracts with attribution. You may not republish substantial portions, present them as your own, or use them to build a competing product.
Third-party sources referenced or retrieved through the site remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to their own terms.
Availability and change
The service is provided as it is and as it is available. It is under active development. Features may change, move or be removed, and the service may be interrupted for maintenance, or for reasons outside our control.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we do not guarantee that any particular feature will continue to exist. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Disclaimers
Bizarus produces research assistance, not verified fact, professional advice, or a substitute for your own judgement. Its AI-assisted output can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong in ways that read as confident and plausible. Every output requires your verification against the primary source before you rely on it.
Nothing on this site is legal, medical, financial or professional advice. The limitations of the AI components are described more fully in our AI Limitations and Disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for loss of data, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or any academic, professional or reputational consequence arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, or from reliance on any output it produces.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access where you breach these terms, where we are required to by law, or where continuing to provide access would create a risk to the service or to others. You may stop using the service at any time and may ask us to close your account and delete your data, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive it, including the provisions on content ownership, disclaimers and liability.
Research participant data and third-party personal data
This is the most important obligation on this page, and it exists because of what researchers actually do.
Do not enter personal data about identifiable people into the Service. That includes interview transcripts, survey responses, clinical or case records, fieldwork notes naming individuals, and any dataset from which a living person could be identified, whether directly or by combination.
The reason is concrete rather than abstract. When you ask the assistant for help, your text is transmitted to a third-party AI provider outside our systems, as set out in the Privacy Policy. We cannot recall it, we cannot control that provider's retention, and we cannot make promises to your participants on your behalf.
If you nonetheless enter such material, you confirm that you have the lawful basis and any consent required to disclose it to a third-party processor, and you remain the controller of it. We are not, and do not become, the controller of research participant data you choose to paste into a text box. Where you need to work with identifiable data, work with it in your institution's approved environment and bring only de-identified summaries here.
Ethics approval and permissions
Where your work requires ethics approval, an institutional review board decision, a data-sharing agreement, or a supervisor's permission, you are responsible for holding it and for complying with its conditions. Many approvals restrict which systems data may be processed in, and using this Service may fall outside what you were granted.
You warrant that entering material into the Service does not breach any approval, agreement, licence or duty of confidence you are subject to. We cannot verify this and do not attempt to.
Confidential and embargoed material
Do not enter material that is under embargo, subject to a non-disclosure agreement, commercially confidential, legally privileged, classified, or otherwise restricted. The same reasoning applies: it leaves our systems when the assistant is used, and that cannot be undone.
Citations and references require verification
AI language models can produce references that look correct and do not exist, or that exist but do not say what they are cited as saying. This is a known and unsolved property of the technology, not a defect specific to this Service.
Every citation, quotation, statistic and factual claim that reaches your work must be checked against the primary source by you. Do not cite anything you have not opened. Tools here that format or organise references operate on what you give them and do not verify that a source exists or supports your point. Submitting fabricated references, however they were produced, is your responsibility and can constitute research misconduct.
Third-party links and resources
The site links to external sources, scholarly databases and other websites we do not control. We provide those links for convenience and do not endorse, and are not responsible for, their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. Following an external link takes you outside these terms.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, your infringement of a third party's rights, or content you enter that you did not have the right to enter. This does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own breach or negligence.
General
Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest continues in force and the provision is treated as modified to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a right immediately, that is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to a successor of the service, provided your rights are not reduced.
Events outside our control. We are not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including network failure, provider outage, or the withdrawal of a third-party service the platform depends on.
Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Notice and the AI Limitations and Disclaimer, are the whole agreement between us about the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service develops. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Material changes affecting account holders will be notified by email to the address on the account. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
The service is operated from a single jurisdiction but is reachable worldwide. Where you are a consumer, nothing in these terms deprives you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts where the law gives you that right.
These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or with your use of the service, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Mauritius. The courts of Mauritius have jurisdiction, save that where you are a consumer resident elsewhere you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your own country where the law of that country gives you that right.
The service is reachable worldwide. Nothing in this section deprives you of any protection given to you by provisions of the law of your country of residence that cannot be departed from by agreement.

About these terms
These terms are written to be read. Where a clause could have been stated in legal shorthand or in plain language, plain language was chosen, and that is deliberate rather than a sign that it means less.
They apply from the date at the top of this page and replace any earlier version. If you held an account before that date, continuing to use the Service means these terms now govern it.
