Contradiction

Also called conflicting findings, conflicting evidence

A contradiction is when two credible sources report incompatible findings on the same question. Ignoring it quietly is a shortcut; naming it and proposing why it might exist is the actual analysis.

In context

You'll usually need this when your literature review would otherwise read as a list instead of an argument.
