Framing Your Question

Research topic

Also called topic area

A research topic is a broad area of interest, not yet a research problem. It becomes a problem only once it's paired with a specific context, a demonstrated gap, and a clear reason the gap matters.

In context

You'll usually need this when you're still narrowing down what to study, before you can argue why anyone should care.
