Revise and resubmit

Revise and resubmit is a peer review outcome asking the author to substantially address reviewer feedback and resubmit, often more than once, before a final accept or reject decision.

In context

You'll usually need this when your manuscript comes back with detailed reviewer comments instead of an outright accept or reject.
