Vulnerable population
A vulnerable population is a participant group requiring additional ethical safeguards due to reduced capacity to give full, free consent, e.g., children, people in custody, or those in a dependent relationship with the researcher.
In context
You'll usually need this when your intended participants can't be assumed to consent as freely as an ordinary adult volunteer.
