Pseudonymisation
Also called pseudonymization
Pseudonymisation is replacing identifying details with a code or pseudonym, where a separate key could still, in principle, re-identify the person, distinct from anonymisation, which removes that possibility entirely.
In context
You'll usually need this when you need to be able to re-link data back to a participant later, but not while it's in general use.
